Managing Type 2 Diabetes: Prior Detection And Lifestyle Changes Published on: 26th March 2025 Medically reviewed by: Dr. Alina Gabdulbarova A comprehensive understanding of Type 2 diabetes is crucial in managing the condition better. Type 2 diabetes is caused by the body’s inability to respond to the insulin it produces or its inability to produce enough insulin, leading to alarmingly high levels of blood sugar. Insulin, produced by your pancreas, is essential for your body to send glucose to your cells through your bloodstream. Like in any other condition, early detection of Type 2 diabetes can immensely help in treating the condition better, leading to an improved quality of life, in turn, reducing the risk of other critical complications in several organs at a later stage, like your heart, kidney, eyes etc. However, symptoms in Type 2 diabetes may develop gradually, and can be mild. On many occasions, they may never be found out until they get severe enough. Your body’s resistance to insulin puts additional pressure on your pancreas, pushing it to make more insulin, damaging the cells in the pancreas. The inability to use the insulin produced and the insufficient production of insulin – in both the cases, glucose accumulates in your blood, not reaching the cells throughout, making them devoid of any energy.
